Mercy and Truth are Met
Ned Rorem (b. 1923)
Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed.
Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.
Yea, the LORD shall show loving kindness; and our land shall yield her increase.
Righteousness shall go before him; and peace shall be the pathway of his steps.
Mercy and truth are met together. Amen.
Psalm 85:10-13

Sermon
Life in the Spirit
Rev. Clover Reuter Beal
Sacrament of Holy Baptism (11am Service Only)
*The Baptismal Creed (Unison)
In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve. We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba, Father. We trust in the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life. With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Glory be to the Creator, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Amen. (Excerpted from A Brief Statement of Faith.)
Musical Reflection
Pilgrims’ Hymn
Stephen Paulus (1949-2014)
Even before we call on Your name
To ask You, O God,
When we seek for the words to glorify You,
You hear our prayer;
Unceasing love, O unceasing love,
Surpassing all we know.
Glory to the Father,
and to the Son,
And to the Holy Spirit.
Even with darkness sealing us in,
We breathe Your name,
And through all the days that follow so fast,
We trust in You;
Endless Your grace, O endless Your grace,
Beyond all mortal dream.
Both now and forever,
And unto ages and ages,
Amen
