Words of peace, calm, clarity and challenge were shared from the outdoor pulpit by all of the pastoral leadership at the Election Day Prayer Service. The hot static in my anxious heart cooled as I listened to the old spirituals sung with piano and trumpet accompaniment. Prayers were lifted up for our leaders and fellow-citizens and I was reminded that no matter the outcome of elections, who I am asked to be in this world never changes.
