God of the universe, the heavens shine with your glory,

And by the power of the Holy Spirit,
you are present with us now in the Risen Christ.
We celebrate this house of prayer for all people,
and give you honor and glory
for the hands, the hearts and the faith of all those

May it be a place of healing and joy to all who enter.

RESPONDING TO GOD’S GRACE
Offering
Making a financial gift makes Montview’s programs and ministries possible, including this worship service. You are invited to give generously at www.montview.org/giving or by texting a dollar amount to 720-452-6449. Offering plates are stationed at the exit for cash and checks. We’re grateful for your support.
God, you have so greatly loved us, long sought us, and mercifully redeemed us. Give us grace that in everything, we may yield ourselves, our wills and our works. A continual thank offering to you. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

People: We thank you for all the gifts represented in this building;
Leader: The craft and art of many hands, the contributions of money and material, the labors of love and commitment.
People: Bless this work, O God, that this place may offer your welcome to many and diverse people. And all who seek you here, may grow in their relationship with you and their compassion for the world.
Leader: By your grace and according to your will, may the Gospel of Jesus Christ be truly proclaimed, and the sacraments rightly administered;
People: So that the body of Christ may be nurtured here and strengthened for Christ’s service in the world.
Leader: In the name of Jesus, we pray.
All: Alleluia and Amen!
The Lord’s Prayer (Unison)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Rev. Clover Reuter Beal – Sabbatical
Today we give thanks for the ministry of Rev. Clover Beal as she begins a three- month sabbatical. Our prayers and love go with her in this time of renewal and reflection. Clover came to Montview seven years ago and our church has a long tradition of providing sabbath rest for its ministers every six years. Sabbaticals also benefit the church community, as ministers return with fresh eyes and
renewed energy and imagination.

ALL OF YOU
Who gave generously
to this campaign
Gathered to Scatter
by Walter Brueggemann
Commissioned for Montview’s Reopening Dedication
May 15, 2022
We have heard tell of you, O most holy God.
We know of
your steadfast love,
your protection of the vulnerable,
your passion for restorative justice,
your self-giving love,
your readiness to forgive,
your notice of the neighbor.
And because we know you, we scatter…
Every day we move across the landscape.
We do our jobs and run our errands,
and we engage in witness to you.
We notice our neighbors.
We protect the vulnerable.
We advocate for justice.
We give ourselves with generosity.
We welcome in glad hospitality.
And then, often and regularly,
we gather together in this awesome building.
We gather to learn and grow in faith,
to be forgiven…and to forgive,
to worship you and pray to you,
to sing your praises,
to quicken our resolve for obedience,
to renew our hope for your world,
to exult in our friends in faith.
We gather here…this is our gathering place.
We love this place,
its gracious lines,
its walls so filled with memories,
its pews where we may rest in your presence,
its kitchen where loaves abound,
its study rooms where we grow in faith.
We love this building,
and we dedicate it again to you and to your purposes.
Let it be a place of grace and passion;
Let it be an arena for prayer and praise.
Let it be a center for our discipleship and a home for good friendships.
We gather in this place to be changed toward you.
And then we scatter again…every day, to be your people.
We gather to collect ourselves,
We scatter to give ourselves away.
As we scatter and gather and scatter,
we are in small ways like you:
You scatter yourself in self-giving,
and gather yourself in awesome holiness.
We are glad we–and our building–belong to you. Amen.
