Méditation (11:00am)
Maurice Duruflé (1902-1986)
Welcome
*Call to Worship
Leader: We walk the road to Jerusalem.
People: We walk the road to resurrection.
Leader: It will require that we give up so much.
People: It will offer, instead, so much more.
All: With grateful hearts, we journey together. Amen!
*Gathering Hymn The Glory of These Forty Days, Verse 1
*Corporate Confession (Unison)
Merciful God,
As we walk this Lenten journey,
give us the sincerity to speak the truth
of both our beauty and our brokenness.
Remind us that we are made in your image,
and forgive us when we forget that image –
hungering instead for that which does not satisfy,
clinging to that which does not give life,
ignoring those who need our love.
And in your mercy,
give us renewal, reparation, resurrection.
Amen.
*Assurance of God’s Love
*Response What Wondrous Love Is This
*Passing of the Peace

LISTENING FOR GOD’S WORD
Word to the Children . . . . . . . . . . . . Sandy Prouty
When the music begins, children are invited to gather on the chancel steps as we sing “This is where children belong, part of our family, part of our song. Be with us, pray with us, help us grow strong: this is where children belong.” Please note the 11:00am service is livestreamed and your child’s image may appear on the video.
Anthem
The Valley (8:30am)
Ellie Holcomb (b.1982)
O Nata Lux (11:00am)
Morten Lauridsen (b. 1943)
Sung in Latin
O Light born of Light,
Jesus, redeemer of the world,
with loving-kindness deign to receive
suppliant praise and prayer.
Thou who once deigned to be clothed in flesh
for the sake of the lost,
grant us to be members
of thy blessed body.
Prayer for Illumination (Unison)
Lord, may your Holy Word
be for us the seed of new possibilities
that blossoms in ways we cannot yet imagine.
Amen.

Let us fear and love the living God,
And let us honor Him with a sincere heart.

RESPONDING TO GOD’S GRACE
Offering Ourselves and Our Gifts
Making a financial gift makes Montview’s programs and ministries possible, including this worship service. You are invited to give generously at www.montview.org/giving or by texting a dollar amount to 720.452.6449. Offering boxes are stationed at the exit for cash and checks. We’re grateful for your support.
All are invited to sign and pass the Friendship Pad and greet each other by name. If you are visiting, we also invite you to fill out the welcome card in the pew rack and put it in the offering box.
*Prayer of Dedication (Unison)
God, you have so greatly loved us, long sought us, and mercifully redeemed us. Give us grace that in everything, we may yield ourselves, our wills and our works. A continual thank offering to you. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
*Response When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer (Unison)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
*Closing Hymn
775 I Want Jesus to Walk with Me (Walk With Me)
Our singing of “I Want Jesus to Walk with Me” – an American Negro Spiritual – is presented in accordance with our reparations royalty pilot program: a practice of valuing the musical contributions of enslaved Africans to American worship and song. Congregants are invited to make a reparation royalty contribution via the pew offering envelope (write “reparations royalty”). Contributions can also be made online at Montview.org/giving (One-time gift: Reparations Royalty Fund) or by clicking here.

MINISTRY HIGHLIGHT: YOUTH AT MONTVIEW
This summer over 60 Montview youth will be participating in one of our four opportunities for mission work trips. Come and support our youth at Agape Latte, a coffee house style concert fundraiser where our talented youth will be performing. There will be delicious food and a silent auction. All proceeds will benefit the youth service trips this summer. Visit their table in the Commons following today’s worship services. Contact: Amanda Osenga, amanda@montview.org
ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING
