Art Reflection - Sassoferrato

This artist painted scenes imagined from scripture in the realistic style of his time. Here we see his classical treatment of fabric, of light and shadow, of landscape, and the human figure done in exactness and emotion. Sassoferrato paints a wobbly baby Jesus moving to kiss his exquisite and loving mother. This masterpiece pulls us to a fully human and fully God relationship lived in moments we can recognize.

In this time of our Christmas celebration, may we and all people know this love and care. We pray that moments like this one will be in our lives and in the lives of all people. We pray for all who suffer now that these moments may be restored to them. Lord, in the name of this Jesus, your son, we say our every prayer. Amen.

In gratitude, faith and hope,
