Anne Neilson is a current artist in North Carolina. I became aware of her art through a gift from a friend. Anne has been painting with oils since 2003. She was in a time of creative discernment when a day of volunteering at a homeless shelter gave her inspiration, direction and the Angel Series. Anne paints in an Impressionistic style with tints and shades of tertiary colors and vague images. Her colors are of nature and familiar while her subjects are mysterious and unseen. She paints in faith for eyes of faith.

Anne’s art and story could pose questions with answers of Advent possibilities. When and where might God break through for each of us in these days? What practices, routines, spaces of quiet and beauty might help us find God and grace upon grace?

God lovingly waits for us to notice signs and wonders. May we notice and give thanks to the living God. Amen.
