Alex Wimberly, Co-Pastor

Alex Wimberly is a Co-Pastor at Montview Boulevard Presbyterian Church. After many years of ministry in Northern Ireland, Alex came to Montview with a wealth of experience in building community, pursuing reconciliation, and bringing together diverse viewpoints. He feels a strong call to bring these experiences and skills to ministry at Montview, in Denver and beyond.

Before coming to Montview, Alex served for seven years as Leader of the Corrymeela Community, a world-renowned peace and reconciliation charity in Northern Ireland. Corrymeela provides a place of welcome and belonging to all, particularly to marginalized communities affected by violence. A Christian community in a post-Christian context, Corrymeela “pursues reconciliation by seeking guidance from the teachings of Jesus, the wisdom of other traditions, and the lessons of our encounters.”

Prior to Corrymeela, Alex served for seven years as Senior Pastor and Head of Staff at McCracken Memorial Presbyterian Church, a large congregation in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He also served as Pastor of Honey Brook Presbyterian Church in Pennsylvania.

Alex earned a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey. His PhD studies at the University of Notre Dame focused on the theme of reconciliation in American Presbyterianism, culminating in a dissertation on the Confession of 1967.

Alex is married to the Rev. Kiran Young Wimberly, and together they have three children: Eva, Amos and Phoebe. Kiran, also ordained in the PC(USA) tradition, is a minister, spiritual director, podcaster and musician who has produced four albums of Celtic Psalms.
