July 12, 2026 | 10:00am

GATHERING IN GOD’S NAME

Prelude
Charity
David Bednall (b. 1979)

Welcome
Sandy Prouty
Minister of Children & Families

*Call to Worship (Psalm 95:1-3, 6)
Leader: O come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
People: Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to God with songs of praise!
Leader: For the Lord is a great God,
and a great King above all Gods.
People: O come, let us worship and bow down,
let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!

*Opening Hymn
475  Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing  (Nettleton)

*Corporate Confession (Unison)
Holy God,
in whom no heart is hidden and no desire unknown.
You do not require our confession to learn who we are.
You invite honesty so that we might know ourselves
as you know us.
We confess that we have lived guarded lives.
We have feared being seen.
Strip away what is false,
not to shame us,
but to leave us finally able to stand
in your sight unafraid.
In Christ we pray, Amen.

(Silence)

*Assurance of God’s Love

*Response  To Thee, Great One in Three

*Passing of the Peace

LISTENING FOR GOD’S WORD

Word to the Children
When the music begins, children are invited to gather on the chancel steps as we sing, “This is where children belong, part of our family, part of our song. Be with us, pray with us, help us grow strong: this is where children belong.” Please note that this service is livestreamed and your child’s image may appear on the video.

Sacrament of Holy Baptism

*The Baptismal Creed (Unison)
In life and in death we belong to God.
Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God,
and the communion of the Holy Spirit,
we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel,
whom alone we worship and serve.
We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God.
We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba, Father.
We trust in the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life.
With believers in every time and place,
we rejoice that nothing in life or in death
can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Glory be to the Creator, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.
(Excerpted from A Brief Statement of Faith.)

The Presentation
Pastor: This candle represents the new life in Christ. It is entrusted to you to be kept burning brightly. May all who have received this sacrament walk as children of the light and may God keep the flame of faith alive in them forever.
People: With joy and thanksgiving, we welcome you into Christ’s church, to share with us this ministry, for we are all one in Christ. Amen.

UPCOMING EVENTS

All-Church Summer Read: Theo of Golden — Two Conversations
Today, July 12 & July 19 | 11:15am–12:30pm (Fellowship Hall)
What would it mean to be truly seen — and to offer that gift to someone else? Theo of Golden follows an 86-year-old stranger who arrives in a small Southern town with a singular purpose: to return pencil portraits to the people depicted in them, asking for their story in exchange. Portrait by portrait, life by life, something extraordinary begins to unfold. We chose this book for our summer read because it is a gentle book with goodness at its center. Bring your own copy and come ready to be moved. Childcare is available.
