I would like to introduce you to the work of Charles Harker. He is a current emerging artist from the Phoenix, Arizona area. His works are stylized and abstracted through simplification, structure and pattern. In Wild Flowers we see flat, bowl-shaped and wedged flowers embellished with geometric design, all vaguely familiar and vaguely not. His use of color in crowded compositions of still life and landscape has also made him a rising artistic star.
Through the ages, artists have looked closely at the world and created from their viewpoints. And, through the ages they have not been deterred by the abundance of art already made. Artists have a faith in beauty and love that resembles our faith in God, itself steeped in beauty, love, gratitude and petition. There are many prayers left to say. There is much art left to make. This joined persistence may be part of the plea voiced in, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
May we find faith and art sacred in God’s great scheme. May we give God thanks.
In gratitude, faith and hope,
