Summer Mission Immersion

Yes! We are making plans for a summer mission trip immersion this summer! We’ll be staying local and will spend the week here in Denver for a week of worship and service together. Our group will serve at different sites around the metro area and neighboring communities, while taking notice of the people around us, the impacts of our attitudes on our planet, and how God is inviting us to change through the prophets among us.

An overview of the week

Our theme People, Planet, Prophets will provide a lens for reflecting on our week and experiences.

The mission immersion experience will include both physical labor (such as cleaning, landscaping, or sorting food) and relational experiences (such as providing hospitality and friendship to our neighbors living on the margins).

We will be around people that would be considered on our “outer circles” and we will listen to them and learn from them. We will look at the impacts of our actions and attitudes on the planet, and those who inhabit it. And we will be looking at prophets from the Bible and from now, and how God is calling us to change, and to be prophetic ourselves. “

Each day will include opportunities to build friendships with youth at Montview through the week’s activities, work projects, reflections, meals, and worship.

As formal health guidance and projections continue to change moment by moment, planning for this summer’s mission immersion is a bit like aiming for a moving target.

In the face of this uncertainty, there is only one thing we can all do to prepare for the unpredictable—and that’s be flexible.

Options

In the spirit of flexibility we’ve created three different plans to accommodate various levels of opening up.

Tier One

$150.00*
(this acts as a deposit to secure your spot)

Contact and time together is kept at a minimum (1-4 hrs/day), with outdoor gatherings as guidance allows & at-home kits with Zoom check-ins if needed.

Tier Two

Deposit + $150.00

1/2 or full day together primarily outdoors (only indoors if safe). No transportation will be provided, so the day will be spent in one location (either at Montview or on site).

Tier Three

Deposit + $250.00

Full day/Extended day. It’s safe to be indoors & we’re able to travel together. Montview serves as home base. Tentative overnight opportunity &/or group outing (hiking, rafting, Boondocks, etc.).

Registration Deadlines

*Early Bird Special! Registrations received on or before March 28 will have a reduced deposit of $100.

With the continued uncertainties we know that you may need time to decide if participating in this summer’s mission immersion is right for your family. Registrations will be kept open for as long as we can accommodate!

In the same spirit, we don’t know when we will be able to make the decision of which tier we will be able to offer.

We are confident that no matter what this summer brings us we will be able to offer Tier One.

We expect that we will likely find ourselves somewhere between Tier Two and Tier Three. As the date approaches, we will communicate the work projects and any activities we will be able to engage with as well as when this payment is due.

We are hopeful that we will be able to spend our week in Tier Three. As the date approaches, we will communicate the work projects and any activities we will be able to engage with as well as when this payment is due.

Food, Transportation, Overnights

Endless van rides, sharing meals, and the overnight experience are a beloved part of the summer mission trip. The relationships we build with one another are as meaningful as the service.

A lot will depend on the health guidelines to determine how these will be part of our week together. If it’s safe to ride in vehicles together this will open up a lot more options for afternoon activities and outings.

We will share as many meals together as we feel comfortable with. At a minimum that means bringing your own lunch. At best our day will begin with breakfast and end with dinner.

We are planning for the possibility of getting to spend at least one overnight together—even if that means camping in the church parking lot 🙂

We will be partnering with Youth Mission Co (YMCo), a youth mission organization, who will be supporting us in creating a dynamic, engaging, and meaningful week here at home.
