Children
Overview
Our programming for children at Montview Church includes a robust, Bible-centered Sunday School program for ages 3-10. Our volunteers share stories from the Hebrew and Christian scriptures with our children in an atmosphere of joy and acceptance. We explore the Bible within the context of God’s presence and love in our daily lives and within the small and large questions these stories inspire. We discuss and encourage kindness and respect for all people in our lived experience.
Our childcare program provides professional care by paid care providers on the Montview playground. We follow the best practices of the industry in a spirit of love and dedication to our families.
Sunday School 2024-2025
Our program runs from September – May. It is Bible based and taught by dedicated volunteers who are background checked and trained on our Montview safety policies. We will focus this year on Bible stories; creativity and wonder; the order of worship and sacraments instruction; mission opportunities; and making friendships! We learn and grow together in God’s name and love each Sunday.
Childcare
The safety, comfort and joy of your children are the highest priorities of our Montview childcare program.
Childcare for children ages birth – 2nd grade is available September – May on the preschool floors during the 8:30am and 11:00am services each Sunday. Sign-in and Sign-out are in the individual rooms. Our professional, background checked care providers work in teams of two and three.
During the summer months of May – September, childcare is in place from 9:30 – 11:30am for our one worship service at 10:00am. Children ages birth – 2 years are in Room 110. Children ages 3 – 7 are in Room 112. Children who have completed second grade stay in worship with their families.
We also offer a space directly under the sanctuary for young children and their parents. There is a livestream of the service and space and toys for the little ones!
We hope to have your family with us soon!
Special Opportunities for Families
Summer Sacred Art Camp 2025
Summer Sacred Art is a week-long program devoted to the arts in a sacred context. It is an exploration of several world religions through stories, traditions, music and art. We spend time learning, creating and getting to know each other and the beautiful beliefs of others around the world in a setting of fun, appreciation, celebration and friendship.
Our program is for children entering Kindergarten – entering Grade 4 (Fall, 2025). It runs from 9:30 a. m. – 2:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. We offer four sessions, each identical, over four weeks in June and July.
Music and Drama
Montview also offers midweek Conservatory classes for children in music and dramatic arts. Our children can participate in our Bel Canto Choir for grades K-5 and our Youth Handbells for grades 3-8. These choir sings in the sanctuary several times during the year including our Christmas and Spring Concerts with orchestra.
Worship Participation
Our children participate in our worship services throughout each year as acolytes, readers, Communion servers. Our children are celebrated each year in the sanctuary with our Blessing of the Children liturgy and with our presentation of Bibles to our fourth graders.
Mission
Our children participate in mission projects throughout the year. They assemble and share Homeless Packets to the hungry in our city. They participate in churchwide mission projects such as joining with the generations to make Valentines for immigrants, repackaging beans and rice for those in need in our city, serving meals to the women of our Women’s Homeless Initiative program. They also help with donations of food, clothing, books and games!
Community Outreach
Each year we host events at Montview Church for the children of our neighborhood. We have a presentation for 600 children in our sanctuary on Martin Luther King Day. We host Opera Colorado for children’s performances each spring.
