On June 30th the relationship between Montview and the Rev. Dr. Cindy Cearley was dissolved. While the hope was to have an Interim in place by July 1st, this proved to be harder than expected. Montview received special permission from Denver Presbytery to begin their search before Cindy’s departure; however a suitable replacement was not found in that time. As a result Montview entered into an arrangement with a local pastor in order to bridge the gap between Cindy’s departure and the time when an interim could be secured.
Session decided to take advantage of a provision in the Book of Order that allows Session itself to act as the interim pastor search committee. A subcommittee consisting of current elders Michele Horn, Mary Buckley and Craig Maginness is directing the interim search process.
In August, Montview entered into a conversation with the Rev. Dr. Dee Cooper to become the Lead Pastor for Congregational Life in the Interim Period. Her work with Montview begins October 1st. Shortly after her arrival, Montview hopes to form a Pastor Nominating Committee (“PNC”) to begin the formal search for a permanent replacement for Cindy.
We will keep the congregation updated as things continue to move along, but if you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to ask any of the elders on session for more information and the church’s progress towards calling a new pastor.
